Compatibility & installation

Software for your alloy wheel CNC.

Choose a profile-editing tool for your existing workflow or a complete CNC Control installation. This guide explains what to check, which files Smoother opens, and how to get started.

Two applications. Clear roles.

Choose the workflow you need.

Profile preparation

X1 Smoother

Import a supported wheel profile, smooth and refine the line, adjust the lead-in and lead-out, then export it for your existing machine software.

Choose this when you want X1’s profile-editing tools while continuing to use your existing CNC control software.

X1 CNC Control System

Bring probing, the integrated Smoother and cutting together in one interface on a supported machine and controller configuration.

Choose this when you want X1 to operate the machine. The selected machine profile must match the fitted controller and equipment.

Keep your existing software installed. Standalone Smoother is designed to fit into an existing file-based workflow; full CNC Control compatibility is assessed for the actual machine configuration.

For alloy-wheel repair workshops

Find your machine family.

Machine names help identify the starting point. The profile file and fitted controller determine which X1 workflow is suitable for a particular installation.

Vixen & Haishu CNC

For Vixen and Haishu alloy-wheel lathe owners, start with the profile file used by your current software. For full X1 CNC Control, identify the exact machine model and its controller so the matching machine configuration can be selected.

Known configuration examples include iMC3041E controllers. The selected profile must match the specific machine.

Crystal & Hience CNC

X1 supports documented Crystal and Hience machine configurations. Supported CNC Control installations include guided setup for the fitted tool post, feed and spindle potentiometers and air cooling.

Known configurations include iMC3042E and newer iMC404E controllers. Match the fitted controller and accessories during setup.

Gubot CNC

Smoother can be used with supported Gubot profile files. Full machine operation uses the Gubot machine configuration and its controller integration. Profile-file compatibility and direct machine control are separate checks.

Known configuration example: LHEM2424. Confirm the controller fitted to your machine.

TEMA & GLS CNC

For TEMA and GLS machines, confirm the file used in your existing workflow for standalone smoothing. For CNC Control, match the machine and controller variant to a supported configuration.

Known configuration examples include iMC404A controllers. Check the exact controller designation before selecting the machine profile.

AYCE Systems & AYCE Solutions

If your wheel lathe was supplied by AYCE Systems or AYCE Solutions, use the machine model, controller details and a sample profile to establish the right X1 setup. A supplier name alone does not identify the controller or file format.

RIWS & APC CNC

For RIWS and APC alloy-wheel CNC machines, provide the model and profile-file details when choosing your software. We can assess the existing file workflow and confirm whether a full CNC Control configuration is available for that machine.

Tryax TY3040

Tryax TY3040 compatibility is recorded in the Smoother release history. Use the supported profile workflow with standalone Smoother; this does not by itself establish support for replacing the machine’s controller software.

View recorded Smoother compatibility notes

Make a compatibility check straightforward.

Have the machine make and model, the controller name or a clear photograph of its label, your Windows version, and one original profile file ready.

Ask X1 about your machine

Machine names identify the equipment being discussed. Compatibility is specific to supported file formats and machine/controller configurations.

Standalone Smoother

Start with your profile file.

The current standalone Smoother opens supported profile content in these file types:

.cnc · .mts · .xml · .nc · .txt · .gcode · .file

The contents of the file must match a supported profile format. A filename extension alone does not establish that every manufacturer’s file can be processed.

Numerical control over your edit

Refine selected areas in millimetre steps.

Use the adjustment arrows to nudge a selected area of the profile by the step you set. Combine those micro-adjustments with smoothing, construction points and draggable extensions to prepare the line for export.

This describes numerical profile editing in the software. The final machined result also depends on the machine, tooling and setup.

Simple installation

Download. Set up. Get to work.

The current installers guide you through setup. An internet connection is needed for installation downloads and initial registration.

01 · Download

Choose your application.

Download X1 Smoother for standalone profile editing, or X1 CNC Installer for a supported machine-control installation. The current two downloads are always on the main page.

02 · Install

Follow the setup steps.

Run the installer on the intended Windows computer. Smoother setup handles the supported Windows 7 SP1 prerequisites. For CNC Control, select the correct machine and complete its configuration questions.

03 · Register

Enter your company details.

Open the software and register the installation using your business details. Your subscription or USB licence is purchased through x1cnc.com; X1 Admin provides the download and support resources.

Common questions

Before you get started.

Can I continue using my existing software?

Yes. Keep it installed. Standalone X1 Smoother is intended to work with supported profile files from your existing workflow, so you can edit in Smoother and return the exported result to the appropriate machine software.

Does standalone Smoother require a CNC controller connection?

Standalone Smoother edits and exports files. Direct probing and machine movement belong to X1 CNC Control on supported hardware.

Does Smoother need .NET 4.8?

The current standalone Smoother does not require .NET 4.8. Its installer includes the application runtime and handles supported Windows prerequisites.

How do I stay on the latest version?

The current X1 Smoother and X1 CNC software include automatic updates. Keep the computer connected when updates are available. Smoother update downloads can resume after an interrupted connection.

Where do I buy a subscription or USB licence?

Visit the X1 CNC store at x1cnc.com. This X1 Admin website provides downloads, instructional videos, the manual and support tools.

How do I cancel my subscription?

Cancel your subscription anytime through your online customer portal. No cancellation fee and no phone call required.

Can I download an earlier Smoother version?

Yes. The Versions page retains the earlier installers and their release notes. The main downloads page features only the latest Smoother and CNC Control installation downloads.
